Criminal Background Checks for Leaders

As dedicated BSA volunteers, you understand the importance of keeping our youth safe in the Scouting program. To ensure Youth Protection, our organization has conducted criminal background checks on all new volunteers since April 2003. Because some volunteers have been continually registered in the program before April 2003, some have not had a criminal background check. In the next few months, we will be communicating with those volunteers on this issue.

Scouting TV

Scouting for Adventure is currently in production and is slated to begin airing August 11th, 2008. The Outdoor Channel (Cox channel 250) will air a new TV program titled, Scouting for Adventure. It will highlight the adventure, the excitement, and challenges faced by Scouts everyday. It is also about the values and benefits of Scouting in the community. This show will have a rhythm, pulse, and a contemporary look…a format that a kid and his dad can get their arms around.

The executive producer is a former Scout whose first published work was a letter in Boys’ Life! Some of the segments will be titled “Postcard from camp”, “He was a Scout”, “Try this”, “High adventure”, “Do one daily”, and “Think & grin”, Scout style humor delivered by Scouts from around the country. This is something to look forward to.
